Maoming is a prefecture-level city in southwestern Guangdong province, China, facing the South China Sea about 362 kilometers from the provincial capital Guangzhou. It borders Zhanjiang to the west, Yangjiang to the east, and Yunfu to the northeast. Maoming Port, a Grade I facility, processed 16.8 million tons of cargo in 2007, and the city's economy centers on exports of refined oil and aquatic products, chiefly to Hong Kong, Macao, and ASEAN nations.
