Mendi is the capital of Southern Highlands Province in Papua New Guinea, in the Mendi River valley at an elevation of 1,620 meters, with a population of about 56,055 at the 2013 census, the country's tenth largest town. Its economy centers on vegetable, coffee and tea farming, and it is reached mainly by air through Mendi Airport.
