Meulebeke is a village and former municipality in the Belgian province of West Flanders, in the Tielt district. It was an independent municipality until 1 January 2025 and is now a sub-municipality of the city of Tielt, with just over 11,000 inhabitants. It is first mentioned around 1100, when Ringoot II, lord of Dendermonde, became lord of Mulenbeca, although a Romanesque church is believed to have stood there about the year 1000. The name describes a settlement with a mill on a brook, the Devebeek. By about 1500 the village already had 2,000 inhabitants, and on 27 September 1645 French troops set fire to the parish church, 25 houses and several farms.
