Mežica is a town in northern Slovenia, on the Meža River in the traditional province of Carinthia near the Austrian border, and is the seat of the Municipality of Mežica. It grew up beside a lead and zinc mine at the foot of Mount Peca, worked from 1665 until 1994 and now open only for tourist visits.
