Mildura is a regional city in northwest Victoria, Australia, on the Victorian side of the Murray River, with a population of 35,652 at the 2021 census, rising to 58,914 when nearby towns including Wentworth, Irymple, Nichols Point, Merbein and Red Cliffs are included. It is the largest settlement in the Sunraysia region, where around 90 percent of Australia's table grape exports are grown, and it supplies roughly 80 percent of Victoria's grape production across table, sultana and wine varieties. Known as Australia's first irrigation colony, Mildura developed as an oasis in the desert through irrigation drawing water from the Murray River, beginning in 1887.
