Milos

Milos is a volcanic Greek island in the Aegean Sea, the southwesternmost of the Cyclades, with 5,302 residents in the municipality at the 2021 census across an area of about 150.6 square kilometers. An important center of early Aegean civilization due to its extensively traded obsidian, found in early farming villages throughout the Near East, the island produced several world renowned sculptures including the Venus de Milo, now in the Louvre, the Poseidon of Melos in Athens's National Archaeological Museum, and the Asclepius of Milos in the British Museum; it remains a popular summer tourist destination known for traditional Greek architecture and varied beaches.
