Morgantina

Morgantina is an archaeological site in east central Sicily, southern Italy, about sixty kilometres from the coast of the Ionian Sea in the province of Enna. The site consists of a two kilometre long ridge called Serra Orlando and a neighboring hill called Cittadella, and was inhabited across two major periods, from roughly 1000 to 900 BCE at Cittadella and from about 450 BCE to 50 CE at Serra Orlando as part of the wider Magna Graecia world. It has been the subject of archaeological investigation since the early twentieth century, and the closest modern town, Aidone, lies two kilometres to the southwest.
