Moyobamba, also called Muyupampa or by the nicknames Santiago of Eight Valleys of Moyobamba and Maynas Capital, is the capital city of the San Martin Region in northern Peru, with 50,073 inhabitants according to the 2017 census. Some 3,500 species of orchids are native to the surrounding area, earning the city its other nickname, the City of Orchids; it is also the capital of both Moyobamba Province and Moyobamba District.
