Myrcinus, also spelled Myrkinos, was an ancient Greek city in Macedonian Thrace, in the region of Edonis between the Strymon and Nestos rivers, founded as a polis by colonists from Miletus in 497 BCE under Histiaios. Its site offered abundant timber for shipbuilding and nearby silver mines, and it later fell to the Edoni before surrendering to the Spartan general Brasidas in 422 BCE; during the Byzantine period it was known as Doxompos.
