Nida (Roman town)

Western Europe

Nida was an ancient Roman town located in what is now the northwestern suburbs of Frankfurt am Main, Germany, specifically the district of Frankfurt-Heddernheim, on the edge of the Wetterau region. During the Roman Empire it served as the capital of the Civitas Taunensium. Its name is known from Roman-era written sources and probably derives from the nearby Nidda river.
