Nordhausen is a city in Thuringia, Germany, serving as the capital of the Nordhausen district and the urban centre of northern Thuringia and the southern Harz region. It has a population of about 42,000 and lies roughly 60 kilometers north of Erfurt, 80 kilometers west of Halle, 85 kilometers south of Braunschweig and 60 kilometers east of Gottingen.
