Nottingham is a city and unitary authority area in Nottinghamshire, in the East Midlands of England, located 42 miles southeast of Sheffield and 54 miles northeast of Birmingham. It is the county town of Nottinghamshire and was granted its city charter in 1897 as part of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee celebrations. The city is historically associated with lace-making, bicycle manufacturing and tobacco, is the legendary home of Robin Hood's rival the Sheriff of Nottingham, and holds UNESCO City of Literature status.
