Nowe

Nowe is a town in Swiecie County in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship of northern Poland, about 75 kilometers northeast of Bydgoszcz and 80 kilometers south of Gdansk, in an elevated position on the Vistula river. Founded in the Middle Ages as a royal town of Poland, it lies in the Kociewie ethnocultural region within the historic Gdansk Pomerania region and retains well preserved medieval architecture, including Gothic churches dedicated to Saint Matthew and Saint Maximilian Kolbe, the medieval Nowe Castle, now a culture center, and a preserved old town market square. The town had 6,270 inhabitants in 2004 across 3.57 square kilometers.
