Oelsnitz is a town in the Vogtlandkreis district of Saxony, Germany, on the White Elster river about 9 kilometers south of Plauen. As of December 2024 it had 10,062 residents across 53.67 square kilometers. In the medieval period Oelsnitz belonged to the margraves of Meissen and later to the electors of Saxony, and the nearby village of Voigtsberg holds the ruins of a castle that once housed a regional governor. The town today comprises eleven subdivisions.
