Oresthasium

Oresthasium, also recorded as Oressthasion, Orestheium or Oresteium, was a town in the south of ancient Arcadia, in the district of Maenalia, slightly to the right of the road from Megalopolis to Pallantium and Tegea. Myth attributed its founding to Orestheus, king of Arcadia, and also connected it with Orestes. It formed part of the territory of Maenalus until the foundation of Megalopolis in 371 BCE, when Oresthasium was abandoned and its population incorporated into the new city; Thucydides calls its territory Oresthis, within which lay Ladoceia, later a suburb of Megalopolis.
