Pagae

Pagae was a town of ancient Megaris on the Corinthian Gulf, near modern Alepochori, that served as the region's western harbor and, after the capital, its most important settlement. Athens garrisoned the port after Megara joined it in 455 BCE, held it briefly after Megara's revolt the following year under a thirty-year truce, and saw it held by exiled Megarian aristocrats during the Peloponnesian War in 424 BCE. Pagae later joined the Achaean League in 193 BCE and, in the Roman period, was important enough to mint its own coinage; remains of its city walls survive today.
