Penaflor is a city and commune in Talagante Province, in Chile's Santiago Metropolitan Region, about 37 kilometers southwest of Santiago in the Central Valley. The 2002 census recorded 66,619 inhabitants, 94.9 percent of them urban, after growth of 32.8 percent over the preceding decade. The commune covers 69.2 square kilometers at an elevation of 342 meters and is governed by an elected mayor and municipal council. Notable people from Penaflor include the writer Magdalena Petit and the footballer Igor Lichnovsky.
