Perga

Perga was an ancient city in the Pamphylia region of southern Anatolia, in present-day Turkey, and one of the region's most important urban centers in antiquity. It is mentioned in the New Testament as a stop on the Apostle Paul's first missionary journey, and the city's ruins preserve an extensive Hellenistic and Roman streetscape including a stadium, theater, and colonnaded main avenue with its ancient water channel still visible. The site's twin Hellenistic gate towers are among the best-preserved city gates surviving from the ancient Greek world.
