Perugia is the capital city of Umbria and of the province of Perugia in central Italy, crossed by the River Tiber, located about 164 kilometers north of Rome and 148 kilometers southeast of Florence. The city covers a high hilltop and part of the surrounding valleys, and with a population of 162,384 is the 23rd-largest city in Italy.
