Philipsburg is the capital of Sint Maarten, a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, on the southern coast of the island of Saint Martin between Great Bay and the Great Salt Pond, with a population of 1,894 as of 2017. It holds the island's main deep-water port, which serves more than two million cruise passengers a year, and its tourism-driven economy is built around colonial-era architecture, markets and restaurants.
