Phlegyas (Boeotia)
Southern Europe
Phlegyas was a town of ancient Boeotia in central Greece, on the border with Phocis, said in Greek mythology to have been founded by the hero Phlegyas near the city of Orchomenus. According to the legend, the Phlegyans later broke from Orchomenus and plundered the temple at Delphi, for which the gods were said to have destroyed most of their people, with the few survivors fleeing to the Phocian town of Panopeus. Its exact site has not been located. This description is adapted from Wikipedia contributors under CC BY-SA 4.0; changes were made. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
