Pordoselene

Pordoselene, also called Poroselene, was a town and polis of ancient Aeolis on the chief island of the Hecatonnesi, a cluster of small islands between Lesbos and the coast of Asia Minor. The geographer Strabo reported that some ancient writers avoided the town's original name because of an unfortunate meaning in Greek and used the form Poroselene instead, and the philosopher Aristotle mentioned the town in his History of Animals as marking the boundary of an area of the island with weasels and one without.
