Port Augusta is a coastal city in South Australia, Australia, about 310 kilometres from Adelaide on the eastern shore of Spencer Gulf, close to the gulf's head. Known as Goordnada in the revived Barngarla language, it was founded in 1852 as a seaport and its surrounding localities recorded a combined population of 13,515 at the 2021 census. Electricity generation was a significant industry there until 2019, when its coal fired power stations were closed.
