Portmore is a city in Saint Catherine Parish in southeastern Jamaica, functioning mainly as a commuter town for the capital Kingston and housing about a tenth of the population of the Kingston Corporate Area. Begun in the late 1960s as a residential development to relieve overcrowding in Kingston and granted city status in 2003, it had a population of about 156,468 at a 2011 estimate and was ratified as Jamaica's fifteenth parish in February 2025.
