Praesus, also spelled Praisos, was a Greek city in ancient Crete that belonged to the Eteocretans and contained a temple of the Dictaean Zeus, reflecting its position near Mount Dicte. Strabo places it between the promontories of Samonium and Chersonesus, some distance inland from the sea, though he is noted to have confused Praesus with the nearby city of Priansus.
