Pritzwalk

Pritzwalk is a town in the Prignitz district of Brandenburg, Germany, about 20 kilometers west of Wittstock and 33 kilometers northeast of Wittenberge on the Domnitz river, with 11,866 residents as of late 2024. It achieved municipal status in 1256, and a fire in 1821 destroyed most of its town center, which was rebuilt in traditional styles; a 1945 air raid destroyed further buildings near the railway station when a munitions train exploded. From 1952 to 1990 it belonged to the East German Bezirk Potsdam district and saw significant residential growth in the 1950s.
