Pułtusk

Pultusk is a town on the Narew river in the Masovian Voivodeship of Poland, seventy kilometers north of Warsaw, with a 2024 population of 19,064. Among the oldest towns in Poland, it received town rights from Duke Siemowit I of Masovia in 1257, and is known for its historic architecture and for the longest paved marketplace in Europe, 380 meters in length, making it a popular weekend destination for residents of Warsaw. The town saw fighting during the Napoleonic campaign of 1806, was struck in 1868 by the largest recorded meteorite shower in the world, and lost about 85 percent of its buildings in fighting between German and Soviet forces during the Second World War.
