Queenstown is a resort town in the Otago region of New Zealand South Island, with a population of about 29,000 in its urban area as of June 2025. It sits on the northwestern shore of Lake Wakatipu, a long, thin, S shaped lake formed by glacial processes, surrounded by mountains including The Remarkables and Ben Lomond. Queenstown is a major centre for snow sports in New Zealand, with four primary ski fields, and is known internationally for adventure tourism activities including bungy jumping, jet boating and mountain biking.
