Rackeve is a town on Csepel Island in Pest County, Hungary, covering 64.09 square kilometers with a population of 9,726 as of 2008. The town grew after Serbian refugees fleeing Ottoman invasions settled there in the 15th century, developing by the 18th century into a tri-ethnic community of Hungarians, Serbs, and Germans. Its landmarks include the Kovin Monastery, built in 1487 and considered the oldest monastery in Hungary, and the Savoy Castle, a baroque residence built in 1701 and 1702 for Prince Eugene of Savoy and designed by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt. Rackeve gained city status in 1984.
