Reichenbach im Vogtland

Reichenbach im Vogtland is a town in the Vogtlandkreis district of Saxony, in eastern Germany, and is the second largest town in the Vogtlandkreis after Plauen. As of December 2024 it had 19,797 residents across 34.46 square kilometers. The town lies near the A72 motorway between Plauen, about 18 kilometers away, and Zwickau, about 19 kilometers away. Its best known landmark is the Goeltzsch Viaduct, built between 1846 and 1851 and described as the world's largest brick bridge. Reichenbach was also home to the actress Friederike Caroline Neuber, who lived from 1697 to 1760 and is remembered at the town's Neuberinhaus museum. Like much of the former East Germany, the town's population fell sharply after reunification in 1991, from nearly 35,000 residents to its present level, as industrial employment declined.
