Richmond Hill is a city in the Regional Municipality of York in south-central Ontario, Canada, part of the Greater Toronto Area, with a population of 202,022 recorded at the 2021 census, making it the third most populous municipality in Ontario and the twenty-seventh most populous in Canada. It sits between the cities of Markham and Vaughan, north of Thornhill and south of Aurora, and has seen significant population growth since the 1990s, becoming a city in 2019 after having been a town since 1957. Richmond Hill is home to the David Dunlap Observatory telescope, the largest in Canada.
