Rodriguez is a small town in the San Jose Department of southern Uruguay, sited along Route 45 about two kilometers north of its junction with Route 11 and roughly eighteen kilometers west-northwest of Santa Lucia. A railroad line linking Montevideo, San Jose and Colonia passes through the settlement. It was legally established as a pueblo in 1909 and raised to villa status in 1960. Its population has declined sharply since its founding, from 9,017 residents recorded in 1908 to 2,604 at the 2011 census.
