Roseau is the capital and largest city of Dominica, a compact urban settlement located in Saint George parish, surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, the Roseau River and Morne Bruce. Built on the site of an ancient Island Carib village, it is the oldest and most important urban center on the island. It had a population of 14,725 as of the 2011 census.
