San Fernando is a component city and the capital of La Union province, in the Ilocos Region of the Philippines. Founded on May 6, 1786 as a renaming of the earlier settlement Pindangan and chartered as a city in 1998, it had a 2024 census population of 124,809 across roughly 103 square kilometers. The city serves as the regional and administrative center of the Ilocos Region and a trade hub for northern Luzon, and is one of two Philippine provincial capitals named San Fernando, the other in Pampanga.
