Santa Ana is the second largest city in El Salvador, after the capital San Salvador, located 64 kilometers northwest of it. The city has approximately 250,760 inhabitants as of 2024 and serves both as the capital of the department of Santa Ana and as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name, whose administration is divided into 35 colonias and 318 small villages.
