Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire, England, about 29 miles south of Leeds and 32 miles east of Manchester, and is the second largest city in Yorkshire. Long famous for its steel industry and especially for the invention and manufacture of stainless steel and cutlery, Sheffield sits at the edge of the Peak District and is known today for its universities, its green spaces, and its continuing, if diminished, metalworking trade.
