Shepparton is a regional city on the floodplain of the Goulburn River in northern Victoria, Australia, about 181 kilometers north-northeast of Melbourne. It began as a sheep station and river crossing in the mid-19th century before becoming a railway town, and recorded a population of 32,067 at the 2021 census, with the broader urban area including Mooroopna reaching 53,841. Shepparton today functions as an agricultural and manufacturing centre and the hub of the Goulburn Valley irrigation system, one of the largest irrigation systems in Australia, as well as the administrative seat of the City of Greater Shepparton.
