Shijak is a town and municipality in Durres County, in west-central Albania, about 11 kilometers from the city of Durres and 31 kilometers from Tirana. The current municipality was formed in the 2015 local government reform through the merger of the former municipalities of Gjepalaj, Maminas, Shijak and Xhafzotaj, which continue as its constituent administrative units. It recorded a population of 22,058 at the 2023 census, down from 27,861 in 2011.
