Skyros is a Greek island and municipality, the southernmost inhabited island of the Sporades archipelago in the Aegean Sea. At 209 square kilometers it is the largest island of the Sporades and had a population of about 3,000 in 2021. Known in antiquity by several earlier names, including Pelasgia and Dolopia, before settling on its current name around the second millennium BC.
