Slatina is a town in the Slavonia region of Croatia, in Virovitica-Podravina County, with 11,503 residents at the 2021 census. It lies where the Drava valley meets the foothills of Papuk mountain in the Podravina region, about 29 kilometers southeast of Virovitica at an elevation of 127 meters. Under Ottoman rule from 1542 until Austrian forces captured it in 1687, the town later served as a district center of Virovitica County in the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia from 1868 to 1918; its name comes from the Croatian word for salt lake, though no such lake exists there today.
