Sneek is a city southwest of Leeuwarden in the province of Friesland, Netherlands, seat of the former municipality of Sneek and, since 2011, seat of the municipality of Sudwest-Fryslan. It had approximately 34,850 inhabitants in January 2024. Sneek is a well known watersports center, hosting Sneekweek, described as the largest sailing event on inland European waterways, and is recognized for its historic Waterpoort watergate and its network of canals.
