Solin is a town and suburb of Split in Split-Dalmatia County, Croatia, situated on the Adriatic Sea at the mouth of the Jadro River, with a population of 24,862 at the 2021 census. It occupies the site of ancient Salona, once the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the birthplace of the Emperor Diocletian. After Salona's destruction in the seventh century its residents relocated to Split near the palace of Diocletian, and modern Solin has since grown as a suburb built around its Roman era archaeological remains.
