Sopot

Sopot is a resort city on the Baltic coast of Poland's Pomeranian Voivodeship, between Gdansk and Gdynia within the Tricity metropolitan area of about 1.08 million people, with roughly 30,000 to 35,000 residents as of 2021. Growing from a 7th century Slavic stronghold into a health resort, it received city rights in 1901 under German rule as Zoppot and passed to Poland after the Second World War in 1945; it is home to Europe's longest wooden pier, 511.5 meters long, and hosts the Sopot International Song Festival, billed as Europe's largest music event after the Eurovision Song Contest.
