Sopron is a city in Hungary on the Austrian border, near Lake Neusiedl, known in Hungarian as Ferto. It was founded as the Roman settlement of Scarbantia in the 2nd century AD, covers 169.04 square kilometers, and had a population of 62,116 as of 2022.
