Sorsogon City is a component city and the capital of Sorsogon province, in the Bicol Region of the Philippines, at the southernmost tip of the Bicol Peninsula and of Luzon Island. Founded on February 28, 1895 and chartered as a city on December 16, 2000 through the merger of the municipalities of Bacon and Sorsogon, it had a 2024 census population of 187,670 across 276.11 square kilometers. Known as the Gateway to Southern Philippines, it is the most populous city in the province and the third most populous in the Bicol Region.
