Stridon was an ancient Roman town in the province of Dalmatia, on the border between Dalmatia and Pannonia as described by its most famous native. Its exact site is unknown, with scholars proposing locations in modern Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, including candidates near Ljubljana, Strigova, Zrin, and Grahovsko Polje in Bosnia. Stridon is best known as the birthplace of Saint Jerome, and the priest Lupicinus of Stridon is also associated with the town. The Goths destroyed the town in 379.
