Sumedang is a town in West Java, Indonesia, about 46 kilometres northeast of the provincial capital Bandung, and serves as the capital of Sumedang Regency. Its two administrative districts cover a combined area of 125.32 square kilometres and had a population of 184,293 as of mid-2025. The town sits just south of the volcanic Mount Tampomas, which rises to 1,684 metres and is usually climbed from Cimalaka District seven kilometres away.
