Sveti Ivan Zelina

Sveti Ivan Zelina is a town in Zagreb County, central Croatia, about 27 kilometers northeast of Zagreb, with a 2021 population of 14,602 in the town proper and 15,959 across its wider administrative territory of 65 settlements as of 2011. It served as a district capital within Zagreb County during the late 19th and early 20th centuries under the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia, and was known simply as Zelina during the Yugoslav era from 1947 before reverting to Sveti Ivan Zelina after Yugoslavia's breakup in 1990. The Iskra company is a significant local employer, and the town supports elementary and high schools along with field hockey and women's handball programs.
