Tonala is a city and municipality within the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area in the Mexican state of Jalisco. With a population of 442,440, it is the fourth largest city in the state, after Guadalajara, Zapopan and Tlaquepaque, the other major population centers of the metro area. It is best known as a major handicrafts center for Jalisco, particularly pottery, and for its large Thursday and Sunday street market dedicated to crafts.
