Toyota is a core city in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, about 50 minutes from Nagoya, with a population of 426,162 as of October 2019 spread across 918.32 square kilometers, making it the largest municipality in Aichi Prefecture by area. The city was renamed from Koromo to Toyota in 1959 to reflect its close ties to the automobile industry, and it is home to several manufacturing plants of the Toyota Motor Corporation, including the Tsutsumi plant. Its terrain is mountainous in the north and the city has a temperate humid subtropical climate.
